McLean didn’t like what ECNL forced down their throat so they are leaving to get control back. Also makes ECNL league look like a bully to clubs. I doubt ga will do much better. As previous poster said, no development of players. This ultimately is about money and business. County governments should take back control of all public facilities and use them only for recreational leagues. Tax payers should not subsidize the development of private profit making non profits.
Ultimately the question would be what is the purpose of a McLean move? They don't have "their" girls side anymore as its part of the partnership, so they will be essentially rebuilding: - GA offers a softer landing spot in a lower end conference - If they can put together something average they will begin winning, thus improving public perception of their club/brand - They will look to build from there However, lets say all of that does occur, in 5+ years what does the college landscape look like (no one knows, it may not even exist at this rate) in terms of recruiting. The numbers shift more towards ECNL every year (for the pure numbers check out @imyouthsoccer on X), so will college recruiting opportunities dwindle? Or will the GA be able to pull in some bigger names, and then establish a small but notable foothold (its a gamble). If your goal is to improve the program with the McLean name in the hopes of getting back into ECNL as a solo act eventually? That will be dead forever leaving ECNL now. It is a huge gamble on a league who has lost a ton of its high performing clubs over the last four years (there are reasons for that, if they were doing a good job they simply wouldn't have lost that many).
