Not knocking it or even hoping that anything changes, people are knocking Mclean for their decision but if this rumor is true, they're looking to buy into another league that they believe will workout for their recruiting in the future.
No clubs develop, this is all about showcasing and recruiting, and if this is true, Mclean is hedging their bets on GA.
There’s no player development around here, but there’s player development in other parts of the country? Get a life, man. What a ridiculous thing to say. All of the great players out of this area just get better magically and through personal trainers?
Show me a modern day homegrown talent on the girls side that went through a club from u little to where they are now from around here? Highly doubt you'll find one. It just doesn't happen her in the states. It might happen elsewhere, certainly not here, and it's certainly not the norm.
Has anybody watched the Pulisic doc? There's no Dortmund equivalent here.
Look at the 3 local 2007 National Teamers. All played locally with their club the whole time.
And with how much this area changes, you're confident that the clubs they were with could continue to do the same?
Aren't we talking, Union, VDA, FCV?
Those three clubs aren't the same now as they were.
Just answered the question asked, that's all. Didn't make predictions about the future - which I think you're right about. But I do think VDA will still keep producing them, if only becuase of their "in" with BP.

It's not "the norm" anywhere really. Yes, some players stay with one club from youth to senior level but it isn't like it is the only way in Europe. Plenty of players leave a club for another, perhaps "better club" during youth level football.
As this is about girls I will show you some professional players, all internationals for their respective countries, who have moved clubs.
Arsenal:
Chloe Kelly
Caitlin Foord
Alessia Russo
Daphne Van Domselaar
Leah Williamson
Chelsea:
Willie Bright
Sophie Ingle
Catarina Macario
Oriane Jean-François
Hannah Hampton
Lucy Bronze
Sam Kerr
Manchester City
Laid Aleixandrei
Vivienne Miedema
Mary Fowler
Lauren Hemp
Leila Ouahabi
Laura Blindkilde-Brown
This is only from three of the biggest women's clubs in England. Not all of these women are English. It is common in all countries for girls to try and find somewhere that better suits them. It's not a U.S. thing. It happens everywhere. Staying at one club from a youngster to senior level happens but it is not as common as you think in other parts of the world.

Anonymous wrote:McLean didn’t like what ECNL forced down their throat so they are leaving to get control back. Also makes ECNL league look like a bully to clubs. I doubt ga will do much better. As previous poster said, no development of players. This ultimately is about money and business. County governments should take back control of all public facilities and use them only for recreational leagues. Tax payers should not subsidize the development of private profit making non profits.
Anonymous wrote:Betting on the possibility that GA overcomes ECNL and their boys also somehow advance out of mlsn2. A long shot for both to happen but they must see it better than having 1/3 of an ECNL club that they essentially had no control over.

That and if Girls Academy is indeed establishing a true 2nd tier like MLSN2, that will for certain be significantly better than the RL/VPSL around here that is just stagnant and not fun to watch.
How would GA2 be better is the question? No one from GA or ECNL will drop into that, so if that assumption is correct, you are talking about membership just being a re-muddle of current clubs 2nd teams, or a swap between a lower end RL team for example. Is that going to be better somehow? I don't see how if its the same people doing the same dance.

It means rats will jump the sinking ship and look for a new home.
Why will it be sinking?
