Where were you when those of us in this private sector were laid off and suffered during COVID. You were hiding at home behind your monitors on full pay. Well now it’s your turn. Where was I?! I was home with my special needs kid trying to balance virtual schooling and working late into the night because I am in a role essential during shutdowns that directly affects many Americans.

I was also continuing to vote for politicians who supported expanded unemployment benefits and PPP loans. So I was wearing myself thin working while supporting financial support for those not working (I understood I was very lucky to be employed).

I also did things like leaving large tips on takeout orders.

What I wasn’t doing was taking joy in people’s suffering because I’m not a bitter psychopath.[/quote]
