I’ve said this before on here but the Democrats can’t win until they bridge the gap between the anti-labor DEI movement and the labor movement, and I am not sure they can do that. It’s a very depressing situation.
What is the anti-labor DEI movement? As far as I can tell, the GOP weaponized "DEI" as a bogeyman.
DEI, at least the version of DEI embraced by corporations and the Democratic Party, is at heart an anti-labor movement. It is designed to sow distrust and discord between working class and middle class people who might otherwise unify on class-based issues. You don’t believe this? Point out all the private schools, corporations, etc. that support “lower class” affinity groups. Show me the month dedicated to “Working Class History Month.” Tell me why Amazon threw so much money at the race-based affinity groups in their warehouses. The answer is this: there are no “working class” affinity groups at most corporations. Why? Because those are called “unions.” DEI — at least the version of DEI championed by Democratic politicians — is directly contrary to unionization. It divides by race and sex/gender, elevating immutable characteristics over characteristics that would unify a struggling working and middle class. And I do not see the Democrats winning until they figure out how to become truly pro-labor while also not angering the wealthy identity-focused donors who would prefer to keep labor weak.
