Westland is lucky. The new AP came from my child's school, Silver Creek. He was a terrific teacher and 6th grade team leader. I believe he was an AP in his former school district as well. It is a big loss for Silver Creek. Wish he could have taken our open AP spot over the summer.
Why? Didn't new AP work out for Silver Creek? https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1214120.page
That AP was force-placed by central office. Would have been great to hire Bibeault at SCMS. Now we are stuck with an AP with beyond questionable judgment, and we have now lost one of our best science teachers and the 6th grade team leader to Westland. Way to go, central office.
SCMS parent here and I am so frustrated by these changes. Our students keep getting the short end of the stick. My child already has one class taught by a long-term sub, one class taught by two part-time teachers, and now the science class will have a string of subs.
My kid had a long term sub for science for the entire 6th and 7th grade years at SCMS. I made my displeasure known and insisted they give DC an actual science teacher this year in 8th. utterly ridiculous.
And did they? When school admin says that school is fully staffed, are they counting long term subs?? Are all MCP MS science programs un/understaffed?
Yes, they did. I don't know if any other 8th graders have a long term sub this year, but I am glad it's finally not my kid. There needs to be some meaningful prep for a high school science curriculum.
