A bit over-dramatic.

Her grandparents moved out of the house into assisted living and she took over the mortgage without checking and realizing that they had a senior exemption that she did not correct.  She is working with DC to correct the paperwork and pay back the difference.

The second issue is that she moved to a bigger, more expensive house and did not transfer the homestead exemption from the lower-valued house to the higher-valued house.  So, she overpaid taxes in MD.

Neither of these is that unusual of an oversight.  And neither one looks deliberate.  Both look like honest mistakes that need to be corrected.[/quote]
