PSA to my neighbor who put this up - you don't own that part of the grass. You maintain it but my dog has a right to pee there. I have a mind to pull that piece of crap signage up and toss it in to the other part of your yard.
I hate to say this, but in the scenario did you describe, you appear to be the "ugly" person So your neighbors don't like dogs peeing on that easement in front of their house. It is so easy to walk past it. I try to respect my neighbors. I have two dogs and I try to make them go potty in my backyard before our walk. But if they are unable to, I, 1) only let them use the easement between the sidewalk and the road. But 2) if a person had a sign saying, please don't use this particular easement, I would just move past. It really is not difficult.
Why bother to accommodate the preferences of weirdo who won't know either way? Dogs need to pee somewhere on their walks. Letting them pee on public property when the only person who objects is a random neighbor seems perfectly civilized to me. I hate it when people let their pets do things that aren't permitted (run around on school grounds, walk off-leash in areas with leash laws). But if you don't want someone's dog peeing near your house, move out to the country. Or avert your eyes and pretend it's not happening.
Exactly
