DP - where did PP say their not proud of their kid?  Being proud doesn't mean lying to them.  It's great to be proud of effort and do the best you can as an individual.  What else should you say to a kid in this situation?

Oh, please.  Did you see the PP’s further response?  That her kid complained it wasn’t fair that she didn’t win, and so they were both being realistic in the work it takes to be fast and also to be proud of the effort she put in?  It’s actually possible to be proud of your kid *and* realistic about where they are right now.  Sounds like PP’s kid had a great day and her parents are appreciating the fun of the experience, regardless of results.[/quote]
