As people’s values get more extreme they are more likely to have authoritarian leanings. It happens both on the left and on the right.

It's amazing how you know me since I'm a moderate and vehemently reject DEI and "woke" initiatives on the left, many of which are now being dropped at universities because folks like me in the middle don't support mandatory statements like that. I'm still waiting for Trump's plan on infrastructure and healthcare -- at least progressives are honest about increasing taxes to get to Medicare for All and expanding the social safety, however, unlikely that is.
