But progressives are also totalitarian
-Environmental laws and regulations-gas is evil and we must not use
-Pronouns and gender
-Roads and suburbs are evil and must be eliminated
and list goes one
At this point we just need to choose the totalitarian regime we can tolerate.
On the environment, if you want to deny climate change, then sure, we should just continue to use fossil fuels. However, we are seeing more extreme storms in Oklahoma and Texas right now that are coming at a time of year not normal just as one more example of climate change. We are also seeing the renewable energy use right now as extending the US as a an energy exporter, which is a good thing. Why not more of that, while reducing carbon burn tat the same time?
On pronouns and gender...this is like a .01% thing that the right has latched on to. Who cares?
Roads and Suburbs: face it, what we have done for the last century for the built environment has led to many bad results: more pollution, less efficient land use, longer commutes (thus harming the family unit) and horrible health and mental health outcomes. If we know what we are doing doesn't work, then why not try something else?
You prove my point. Again, I am not trying to convince you, just trying to warn about you.

Please look up what totalitarian means. You’re misusing it.
As people’s values get more extreme they are more likely to have authoritarian leanings. It happens both on the left and on the right.
The more sure you are of your extreme beliefs, the more you might be interested in forcefully implementing them.
Show us, kind reader, where this has happened on the left. And then do the right please.
You agree with all that the left does so it is not possible to discuss this with you. You what they do as "right" and what everyone needs so you are fine with whatever means they use to implement. So, not I will not answer your gotcha question.
Oh do I? It's amazing how you know me since I'm a moderate and vehemently reject DEI and "woke" initiatives on the left, many of which are now being dropped at universities because folks like me in the middle don't support mandatory statements like that. However, I'd love to hear you answer the question about why only four of Trump's 44 most senior cabinet members support his reelection? Please enlighten us how you rationalize this. Let's start there before we get into totalitarianism.
I am not saying Trump is great or good. Just saying Progressives are just as bad. Also, I am not telling anyone to abstain from voting, vote for who you want.
When have progressives tried to overthrow a government? When did progressives support tax breaks for the plutocrats and corporations? I'm still waiting for Trump's plan on infrastructure and healthcare -- at least progressives are honest about increasing taxes to get to Medicare for All and expanding the social safety, however, unlikely that is. Let's be specific here since you're both sidesing this.
They are bad in a different way. They do not accept dissent. Everything is their way or the highway (but not "highway" since they think highways are racist).

Are you one of the ones griping about not getting insurance coverage on the coasts? Too bad. I don't want to subsidize your Sun Belt fantasy anymore. Don't support climate mitigation efforts. Fine. However, don't look to folks like me to bail you out the next time your house floods or gets totaled by a wild fire. No more FEMA money to rebuild in flood and disaster zones. Let's let the free market work itself out.
See, it is your way or no way. You don't tolerate disagreement or discussion actually because your way is morally superior.
I tolerate plenty of disagreement. You can deny climate change all you want and even actively support policies against that. What I find objectionable is that you're free from the consequences of those decisions. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. And that's true for healthcare, for worker's rights, for infrastructure, for the social safety when you lose your job or age out, for reproductive and minority rights because at some point, one of these things is going to affect you or someone close to you.
I disagree with all that you just stated. My policy ideas would run counter to your policy ideas. Doesn't mean I hate people and am not seeking the best for them, would just approach it in a way different than you, and I have different ideas on what is best.
Progressives would not tolerate this however. In their minds they have figured out what it best, true wisdom is on their side.

+1 This entire board is filled with foreign psyops trying to discourage Americans from voting. Don't fall for it, y'all.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Because one national party is nominating an irredeemably corrupt, incompetent, idiotic sociopath for President and hundreds of his brainless, soulless sycophants for the House and Senate.
Voting Trump and straight GOP ticket to stop this from happening!
Well said!
Me too! Must stop the threat to democracy that is Joe Biden!!
A vote for Trump or Biden is a vote to continue the deterioration of our country. What is wrong with you people? You can't see the forest for the trees.
Not understanding what the other option is
DP - option of not turning out to vote for either fool!Force a conversation about why politics is sucking across the board for both parties - all parties! Force the powers to be to recognize the Americans are sick of how we are sliding into the abyss as a country. Admit that we have broken parts - we have shit that needs to be fixed or at least given a second look to prioritize for fixing. We have hard conversations to raise and we should not continue on the status quo path.
There’s a reason foreign trolls discourage people from voting. Sitting out an election is dumb and dangerous.
