My oldest friend in the world is a guy I’ve known since I was 5 so that’s 40 years. Though we did go to a prom together that was the limit of our dating. We talk about once every two weeks and text once in awhile and I tell him all about my life except for the more intimate details. He’s a great listener and probably could be considered my therapist. I love the guy like a brother and my husband knows this and he’s fine with it because he knows I’d never cross a line. Is this modern monogamy? I’m sure many husbands would be bothered by our relationship.
Many husbands are insecure or don't realize how great women can be as friends. But IMO depends on how much you share about your marriage. I think any sort of talk about intimate life or venting about your marriage means it's not just friends. Or if you go to them first over your spouse for an emergency... things like that.
