Okay, I've read a little more about the fiance and I hate that I have some reservations. His wife only died in summer 2021. It's now fall 2023 and they're getting married? How long did he wait after his wife passed before he started dating? 6 months if that? And based on timing I'm guessing Tinsley is the first person he dated, and now they're getting married? And there's 3 kids involved that lost their mom? This doesn't seem like it's necessarily a recipe for success. Which is too bad, because I really was happy for Tinsley, and obviously these kids have lost enough already.
Many widowers remarry quickly especially if the former spouse was ill for a long time. I remember seeing an announcement about the death of a mom of a student in my DCs class around Thanksgiving. I met the student's new step mom at back to school night the next September. So less than a year later the dad remarried. I think having young kids increases the speed too.
DP. Do we know that she was ill for a long time though? I keep seeing that without any references to anything. My dad died from prostate cancer that he had for ten years so I get your point. But frequently when younger people (under 50) die from cancer they tend to have more aggressive cancers.
I cannot imagine any advantage to speculation about the course of the first wife's disease, but there are plenty of young parents who don't tell their kids they're dying until the last possible moment. If you don't know any, count your blessings, because it's heartbreaking. And I also don't see any merit in telling DCUM what you'd do if you were in that situation and how much better that would be (trying to shut down a particularly offensive form of speculation here, not that I think it will work)
You’re such a loser for reporting the previous comment, Tinsley. Speculating it was a long-illness is also speculation but you are right that that does make him look better.
