You people are funny this morning.
UVA is ranked outside of top 100. Ouch.
UVA is not known outside of VA and especially outside of US.
Hah! UVA is the top public feeder for Rhodes Scholars, next only to West Point. It’s number 8 after the Ivies and West Point, having 56 Rhodes Scholars to its name. A lot of UVA students are there now
You are late!!
….even though the same large school has never had a graduate win a Nobel Prize. It’s also just average in STEM.
Irrelevant to the Rhodes. You keep bringing up the faculty Nobel but no one cares. Have you not noticed no one responds to your posts? It isn't a great example. I suspect rather that you, your kid or a loved one didn't get in. My own DC didn't have even the record to apply. But I am proud to support a great institution in the commonwealth with my taxes.
I was referring to anyone who had graduated from UVA who went on to become a Nobel Prize winner. Rhodes scholarships are cute, but Nobel Prizes are what what bring the most attention to top schools. That’s where UVA is a complete no show.
If we’re discussing top rated world universities at the Times, why is UVA even included in his discussion?
UVA isn't really that known outside the US. The University of California system, even Illinois, Texas and Wisconsin are better known internationally.
I disagree completely. Do you have any friends or colleagues abroad? You must not travel often.
OMG. You can't be serious. The PP is correct: all of the universities listed, including Michigan, are FAR better known and thought of than... UVA? DP
+1
' And yet you are wrong. UVA is the top public producer in the US of Rhodes Scholars at 53 (West Point is 5). Michigan is 25th with only 27. UVA has a number of grad students at Oxford there right now. https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/universities-by-number-of-rhodes-scholars.html#:~:text=Rated%20as%20some%20of%20the,Scholars%20of%20all%20US%20universities.
There you are! Oh, how we've missed you and your constant, repetitive nattering about Rhodes Scholars.  DP
