I'm 16:40 and I too am interested in hearing why 15:31/16:11 chose RM over Einstein given her little finger wagging in 16:11. But I have to say, IB is not be definition harder than doing 9-10 APs at Whitman or Churchill. There have been other threads on this. For one thing, kids take AP tests starting sophomore year, which is more pressure than tge IB test at the end of senior year when all the college decisions have been made. But most of all, I'm curious why 15:31 is throwing flames on a thread I hoped had died, that deserves to die!
I'm the 15:31/16:11 poster: I didn't choose RM over Einstein (we don't live in the DCC) but chose RM over Blair because when we compared the then-available HS opportunities for our child -- i.e., comprehensive/signature program at assigned school, RM IB, Blair Math & Science, and Blair CAP (eligible b/c attended MS magnet in DCC) -- RM came out on top but it was very close (and I'm well aware that we are very fortunate that whatever choice we made would have been a good one). So being called a "total asshole" by a "liberal mom with 2 kids at Blair" was added proof for me that we'd made the right call. And, as for your curiosity as to "why 15:31 is throwing flames on a thread I hoped had died, that deserves to die!" -- it's because people like you keep directing posts to me. However, I'm not glued to this thread, nor am I a regular visitor to this website, and will only respond when/if I stumble across a post directed to me. So the response could come immediately or hours/days/weeks after the post(s) specifically aimed at me, but rest assured, if you throw flames at me, I'm going to throw them back at you. Childish, I know but that's the beauty of an anonymous post. And although I thought "liberal mom with 2 kids at Blair"'s name-calling was unnecessary and gratutitous, I'm certainly willing and fully capable of jumping down to that level of discourse and "being a total asshole" with the best of them.
