So, I believe that the laptop is real, the info on the laptop is real, and that this isn't a smear campaign. At the same time, it's not the FBI's job to authenticate the laptop or its contents, so I think the "no further comment" comment was the appropriate response.
And, they allowed the letter from "51 former intelligence officials" to be published without any comment. They knew the truth yet allowed a lie to circulate. Unforgivable.
Why is it the FBI’s job to suppress the political speech of those 51 people?
Suppressing speech? Nope. Correcting the record? Absolutely. And, keep in mind that it was Antony Blinken who encouraged the drafting of the letter.... in the capacity of working for the Biden campaign. First, Hillary's campaign interfering in the election. Now, Biden's. Seems like a pattern.
How can a campaign interfere in an election? That makes no sense. The whole point of campaign is to influence the election.
Ask Hillary. Ask the DNC. Ask Antony Blinken. When you conspire to create false allegations and manufacture fake dirt, that is interference, honey. When you enlist your buddies to lie to the American people using their titles when you know damn well it's a lie, you are interfering.
What is lie in the letter from the intel officials? Post the exact quote that is a lie.
The whole damn letter. This, specifically, especially the bolded. In their letter, they specifically claimed the FBI is investigating. This is where the FBI SHOULD have issued a statement instead of letting this lie fester. It is for all these reasons that we write to say that the arrival on the US political scene of emails purportedly belonging to Vice President Biden’s son Hunter, much of it related to his time serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation. We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement -- just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case. If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this. In addition, media reports say that the FBI has now opened an investigation into Russian involvement in this case. According to USA Today, “...federal authorities are investigating whether the material supplied to the New York Post by Rudy Giuliani...is part of a smoke bomb of disinformation pushed by Russia.”
How is that a lie? The FBI was in fact trying to determine if this was Russian disinformation.
The FBI had the laptop in Nov, 2019. The NY Post article came out in Oct, 2020. The FBI had the laptop a full year before the existence of it was revealed to the public. They knew when the story was published that the laptop belonged to Hunter Biden and the images released were real.
The laptop is real. Some of the alleged content is real. But does it show any actual crimes? That's the question. People like the NY Post who only have access to the known tampered images are claiming there are crimes. But FBI hasn't been inclined to agree. Note that the FBI got involved well before Biden's presidency. Trump was in charge when they decided to take a pass on pursuing Hunter for any potential crimes. Meanwhile Lev Parnas and other people in Trump's circle who worked with Giuliani are coming out and admitting that a lot of the things being claimed, like the second-hand account of "Biden received a multi-million-dollar bribe" was a fake story that Parnas and Giuliani intentionally swirled to try and smear the Bidens during the election.
That just didn't happen. They opened up an investigation into Hunter Biden. They had the laptop. They have been investigating for 5 years. In fact, Barr passed along the FD-1023 from the informant to Delaware for further investigation. The IRS investigators never saw the FD-1023. They never saw the laptop. Biden's DOJ tried mightily to bury evidence in an effort to protect Hunter Biden and his father. They didn't expect whistleblowers to go to authorities with evidence. And, BTW - that FD-1023 - a very credible source went to authorities with that information. "It all comes from a confidential FBI source – previously described by both Republicans and Democrats briefed on the matter as credible" https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4108735-republicans-release-fbi-form-alleging-unverified-biden-burisma-allegations/
