The MV house is worth $4.7m apparently, on top of her multi-million dollar NYC apartment. She's a descendant of the Vanderbilt family. And just to keep it current, the Daily Mail notes that she's a Harvard alum whose family has donated a building and lots of $$. Doesn't make her husband less of a jerk, but the story is a bit less compelling when you realize she is an uber-wealthy socialite. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12252243/NYC-lawyer-shares-anguish-husband-20-years-left-woman-pandemic.html
What is it about being rich makes the story less compelling? She was upfront about the many ways she is/was fortunate. That doesn't change how awful it is for her and her kids to be blindsided. Assuming it is true.
What the husband did to his wife and children is still horrible- the grief and pain caused is horrible. But you cant deny that couples who divorce and have money access and resources make out so much better than couples without those resources. The difficulty and pain is likely just as great- but not having to stress about money- food, housing and getting your kids therapy (or out of trouble) etc. is much easier when you have money and wealthy extended family.
