Why do gun owners have more rights than others?
They vote. A lot. And they’re okay with people dying so they can keep their toys rather than voting for a safer society. They also care more about their feelings toward guns than they do about things like statistics and facts.
That is absolutely not the reason we haven't had gun control enacted. Something like 70% of American are for sensible gun control measures. It's because GOP elected officials are beholden to the NRA. Biden signed the most comprehensive gun safety bill in 30 years. It's the will of our elected officials.
Gun owners keep electing GOP. What's not to understand there? If they cared more about safety, they'd vote for politicians who care about safety. 70% want something but don't want to vote to get it, therefore they don't want it that badly. If they keep electing Republicans who care more about gaining and keeping power, they're content with the situation. If they want change, they need to vote for change. It feels almost like we're agreeing- it's the GOP refusing to make laws that will change things for the better. It's gun owners (not every gun owner, and not only gun owners, but a huge number of gun owners) who vote for those Republicans who are NRA lackeys. So I don't really care how they answer polls and act sad after mass shootings. Their votes are what matter. Also, they still own guns, and you have to have a gun to shoot a gun. They could be the change they want to see, starting with not owning more guns that people in their homes.
