The posters overreacting to the distance between the Metro station and terminal gave me a good laugh. Have any of you actually been to the airport? Have any of you actually made the walk between the station and the terminal? I fly out of IAD frequently and park in the daily garage right behind the Metro station. It's five minutes. Tops. A well-lit underground tunnel with people movers connects the station and terminal. People need to get a grip.
Yes and how about giving credit to the people in charge for saving $300 million and not building a station underground. Once they decided not to remove the parking lot or build the metro station through the parking lot , then option they chose was a good option. It's a 5 minute walk using current infrastructure. They did a good job. And BTW a shout out to the designers of the airport back in 1963 where they designated a right of way for rail so they never had to actually widen the highway to build it.
God forbid someone with a car has to make a five minute walk.
And God forbid you check your facts before posting and sounding like an idiot. Most of IAD’s parking is more than a five-minute walk from the terminal. That even includes some of the spaces in the surface lot in front of the terminal, where weather and traffic can slow one’s walking pace.
