If you are Christian (and a Republican), how do you react to an image like this?  It absolutely horrifies me but I am neither Christian nor conservative.  I would have thought that most religious people would just be sickened by this weird god, guns and flag.  I can sort of get associating your religion with your political party (maybe?). Horrified?  Um,

- Trump was democratically and fairly elected. You may hate him (he may even horrify you).  But that is democracy.

- the guns are rifles (or carbines); either way, they are “long guns.”  Despite the media’s constant barrage of increasingly horrifying rhetoric (and I agree the incident was horrific beyond words), here are the facts:

- there were more Americans killed with clubs, fists and kitchen knives last year than with “long guns” of ANY TYPE - including so-called assault rifles.  The chance of being killed with a rifle of any type is incredibly incredibly rare.  That is just a fact.   The fear that you or your child is about to die in a mass shooting is simply irrational hysteria.

- do a Wikipedia search on “DC v. Heller.”  The short wiki page explains that personally owning - at home - a firearm is a right protected by our constitution, and it’s extremely unlike the constitution will be amended anytime soon.  So people who write on DCUM “ban all guns” are being unrealistic in the extreme.

The right to own a firearm and particularly for hunting or personal protection is fine. What is the practical reason to own an AR-15? It has one use. Period. No one is going deer hunting with an AR-15.[/quote]

The AR15 is a great defensive weapon.  It has low recoil, and many have adjustable stocks, which means that shorter lighter people can fire it effectively, and the same firearm can fit multiple family members.  First time my partner shot a shotgun with a trainer, they got a black eye from holding the stock loosly and the kickback was quite strong which makes follow up shots much more difficult.

You may be surprised to learn that you worry less about over penetration with .233 than many shotgun loads.  In other words, you worry less that the round will go through your exterior walls and into someone elses house.[/quote]

It's about what the proper tool is for a situation. A scoped deer rifle isn't an appropriate tool for self defense in a home. It's like looking through binoculars, and the round can penetrate your neighbors house.[/quote]
