Oftentimes, gifts are given early to help manage an estate and allow children to enjoy that windfall while the giver is still alive. I wasn’t thinking of getting the entire amount early; just a gift to help us with a down payment to get a large home. 4,000 square feet is fine. We just need more room.[/quote]
