No need to resort to racial slurs and refusing to take taxpayer money isn’t disqualifying. Indeed, I don’t think Mendelson is taking public funds.

And McDuffie may have been popular, but he was running for the top legal job in the city, and he wasn’t [i]legally[/i] qualified to do so. Spiva followed the legal process to challenge it, and the Board of Elections agreed with Spiva’s legal position. McDuffie appealed to the highest court in the city, and they unanimously rejected his legal position.

McDuffie could have gotten re-elected to the Council without much effort, but he chose to seek a position for which he was not legally qualified. Spiva pointed it out, but McDuffie dug his own political grave.[/quote]

It was a typo, Spiva, not Spica.

And running for AG means being beholden to the people of the city, not special interests. Moreso than any other elected seat in the city, the optics of taking PAC and special interests money as an AG candidate are not a good look.
