This is also an acknowledgement of the Anti-Asian racism that has come to dominate progressive Democrat politics. One of those ousted, Alison Collins called merit-based admissions racist (https://www.newsweek.com/school-called-racist-san-francisco-1566895). This is exactly what is being played out in the DMV area at the behest of the progressives and to the detriment of Asian-Americans. The days of the Democrats taking Asian votes for granted are over.
I agree - but Asians are going to need to start speaking out about this. Not to mention, voting for Republicans.
This Asian woman right here will NEVER vote for another Democrat. I’m done. Used to be a regular Democrat voter, but it is clear that they no longer want my vote. Will find other options.
Makes sense. I am a Democratic white voter who doesn’t feel like I have a political home these days. I can’t vote for Trump Republicans and their traitorous insurrection, but the Democrats have lost me with their school closures, anti-Asian racism, how they’ve handled some trans issues, destruction of education, and anti-Semitism. I am not sure exactly what to do. If I had been in VA for the last governor election I probably wouldn’t have voted at all.
I’m the PP. I would have voted for Youngkin in a heartbeat and I think he’s doing a good job. I’m interested in DeSantis and I hope the Republican put forth a strong Republican candidate in the next presidential election. I think he/she would win by a landslide.
I totally don't get any of those arguments the "I'm a Democrat but..." PP made above. - The schools aren't closed - How are Democrats responsible for anti-Asian racism? Were they the ones going around saying "kng flu?" - There were definitely some bad missteps in how the Loudon trans case was handled but there was a lot of right wing dishonesty too. School board properly referred it to the police and was legally prohibited from disclosing any details but that was weaponized against them by the right wing. - How is the left destroying education and what has the right wing proposed that's better? The right wing hates universities, attacked K-12 standards, wants to completely gut public school education and funnel all of the money into privately run Christian schools. - How is the left anti-Semitic? By doing things like criticizing Netanyahu's policies and criticizing illegal Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory? Sorry but that's that's policy debate, not anti-Semitism.
The right fringes can be blatantly anti semitic and anti Asian. The left is more insidious about it - which I actually think is worse. You haven’t even noticed the anti Asian taste to the TJ thing.
Anyone remember China Flu? Is the head of a part the fringe now?
That's what it was actually called until the name change. Most crazy infectious viruses have historically been named after the place they were first identified. It wasn't invented by the right. The problem was using that term AFTER the name change. Mostly as a dig to the government of China, but stupidly oblivious to how it affected Asian Americans. Immigrants are used to stupid in this country, we don't like it, but it's a common thing that is faced. Insidious behavior is more dangerous though, it's the knife in the back from the guy with the smile on his face that is more difficult to defend yourself from vs the knife in your face that your can swipe out of the hand of an obvious aggressor.
