I think the July 2021 end to this "affair" is curious timing vis a vis 2022's gubernatorial election. I wonder if either PIs discovered the affair and/or he came clean to them and they had him cease all contact with her in preparation to run for the Republican ticket. Similar scandal happened at conservative Hillsdale College in Michigan back in the 90s. The president of the college was having a long-running affair with his daughter in law. The president ended it to marry another woman. The daughter in law flipped out, later revealed the affair to the entire family, then walked outside and shot herself. Made the Times and Post:
