- Have good JO birthdays (the August kid is 13 and 7 months at the meet) - Have a good LC Champs (the August kid is 13 and 11 months at the meet) -Have a good summer swim birthday (the August kid is 13 and 10 months/11 months)
This is of course totally correct- at the same time, a swimmer like Katie Ledecky or even some of the top swimmers in NOVA, NCap, et al....it never mattered/doesn't matter when their birthday was/is, they won/win regardless. A little different once they get into open territory (15 and up)
Yep, August/September is the best birthday for swim and all the best known swimmers at our top Virginia club have that birthday. There is one exception I can think of and he has a February birthday but is an outlier. Also extremely big and tall for his age. They do exist, but for the most part the kids with the lucky birthdays will dominate age group swim. Less of an issue as they enter high school though. My early February kid is very good but he will never be the top swimmer at SC or LC champs due to his age. December champs is a great meet for him but not as big of a focus at our club.
