Wow. Now I really hope they use DCs higher SAT score for the alternate entry. Also, does anyone know if alternate entry is calculated by looking at individual subscores (38, 38, 34) or EBRW/10 X 2 plus math/10?
They use individual subscores, so your DC didn’t make the cut if in Maryland :(. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, although this year was extremely hard to qualify! Kudos to them for a great SAT score!
This year is a mess. They are allowing students until October to turn in their eligible score but if you didn't get the form with your name and very little information in by April 1st, you're out of luck. Last year it was October for both, so it's odd to make that change. Schools also didn't do a good job of letting students know about the alternate route even with cancellations of PSATs in some districts. I know students who would qualify and are out because they weren't aware of the alternate route until it was too late. In a pandemic when there were so many things going on, keeping October for both to allow more time for all qualifying students to figure everything out would have been helpful. I'm not sure this year's NMSF and NMF will really reflect the best of the best.
