They use individual subscores, so your DC didn’t make the cut if in Maryland. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, although this year was extremely hard to qualify! Kudos to them for a great SAT score!
This year is a mess. They are allowing students until October to turn in their eligible score but if you didn't get the form with your name and very little information in by April 1st, you're out of luck. Last year it was October for both, so it's odd to make that change. Schools also didn't do a good job of letting students know about the alternate route even with cancellations of PSATs in some districts. I know students who would qualify and are out because they weren't aware of the alternate route until it was too late. In a pandemic when there were so many things going on, keeping October for both to allow more time for all qualifying students to figure everything out would have been helpful. I'm not sure this year's NMSF and NMF will really reflect the best of the best.

Given that the school is sort of low key about awards/recognition, is it possible they don’t even notify students?
DS hasn’t heard anything yet. He thinks he submitted his SAT as alternate entry correctly, but who knows. We think he would make the cutoff. Has anyone from Sidwell heard yet?
Same w/ DD. We are at Blair. Any Blair parents hear anything?

I think it would be ok for your child to email the counselor.

Anonymous wrote:How did your kids know to submit their SAT scores? My fairly tuned in kid never heard anything about this until this summer. From the school? From College Board?
Anonymous wrote:Mine knew to apply, I think it was in a counseling/career letter, but I thought the application was to be submitted by 4/1 and then they just take the test. Did they have to do something else to submit? Now, I am worried she only did 1/2 of what she needed to do. I agree this is so confusing.
