Because they are not joining a large team. 18 kids are rostered each game. The other 10 or 11 play another game. Why do it? Opportunity to train with top players and maybe your border player improves and takes someone’s spot. Also they are listed on the roster so can use that for their own marketing at college showcases. This is much better than not being part of an ECNl program. Makes perfect sense.
Thank you. This does make sense. Is your explanation true for all ECNL teams with large rosters? Do all ECNL teams have the situation where those that don't suit up for the ECNL game gets to play in some other game? I'm thinking what if your kid was on a team with 22 kids and there wasn't a 2nd game? The dress 18 and 4 are ineligible each week. What are your thoughts on this type of situation?
You must be talking about the 2008 Union team with 21 players. Not sure the plan for the 3 that don't make the cut for the game each week. No one is dual rostered onto another team from what I have heard. And just wait until spring when all those trapped 2007 players come down ready to play.
