18 show up for the ECNL game, the other 6 kids are playing elsewhere.

That's only "ideally" speaking.

Can someone explain the thinking?
Do kids beyond the top 11 get recruited to college?

ECNL doesn't guarantee you a college spot, you know that right?

It's all about $$$ money for the Club.

^^^This. I don’t understand why someone who is in the 20-25 range of the player pool (doesn’t start, on sub bench 50% of the time) wouldn’t go to another ecnl club that is less competitive (Loudoun, bryc) to start and play more game minutes? You may not win as many games but get a lot more playing time.

It has been said no less than 40 times. The dual roster kids play on their own team. Occasionally they get called up to a ECNL game. They regularly practice with ECNL and play in EDP. They know this going in. Nobody is getting jerked around.

We are talking 25 girls on the sideline for a game, dressed, playing... not some excel spreadsheet somewhere. Last weekend they were subbing practically every ball-out-of-play. It was 90-something degrees and they were subbing like maniacs. Not one person on earth thinks this is how a "team" should be developed.

There are not 25 girls sitting on the sideline. How many people have to tell you this?

Give Nadir credit for creating this situation. He has two elite teams that can compete with the top teams in the area and has already beaten most of the them. He basically merged both and will have one playing ECNL and another playing at an elite level. They train together and those on the EDP team will have the opportunity to try out for the ECNL team at every practice. Those on the ECNL team not getting serious minutes can supplement their playing time with EDP games. Both teams will play in the best non-ECNL showcases and they all will have access to Nadir’s recruiting network. Not every age group has the talent that Nadir has. What is insane is that his old 05 Herndon Force team is also strong. Give the man some credit.

They are happy they practice with the ECNL. I don’t know who is creating drama but it is not accurate. Clubs nationally can roster 30 and play 18 at official games. This has been the case for years. If someone has an issue they should find another team. McLean has a great
program and is now even stronger.

Opportunity to train with top players and maybe your border player improves and takes someone’s spot. Also they are listed on the roster so can use that for their own marketing at college showcases. This is much better than not being part of an ECNl program. Makes perfect sense.

Thank you. This does make sense. Is your explanation true for all ECNL teams with large rosters? Do all ECNL teams have the situation where those that don't suit up for the ECNL game gets to play in some other game? I'm thinking what if your kid was on a team with 22 kids and there wasn't a 2nd game? The dress 18 and 4 are ineligible each week. What are your thoughts on this type of situation?

You must be talking about the 2008 Union team with 21 players. Not sure the plan for the 3 that don't make the cut for the game each week. No one is dual rostered onto another team from what I have heard. And just wait until spring when all those trapped 2007 players come down ready to play.

No, not with McLean 2006 ECNL.
This has also been said about 50 times. There is no 2006 carve-out playing in EDP and they're not playing for green either.
