18 show up for the ECNL game, the other 6 kids are playing elsewhere.

I don't get it.
Can someone explain the thinking?
Do kids beyond the top 11 get recruited to college?
ECNL doesn't guarantee you a college spot, you know that right?![]()
It's all about $$$ money for the Club.

It has been said no less than 40 times. The dual roster kids play on their own team. Occasionally they get called up to a ECNL game. They regularly practice with ECNL and play in EDP. They know this going in. Nobody is getting jerked around.
We are talking 25 girls on the sideline for a game, dressed, playing... not some excel spreadsheet somewhere. Last weekend they were subbing practically every ball-out-of-play. It was 90-something degrees and they were subbing like maniacs. Not one person on earth thinks this is how a "team" should be developed.
Anonymous wrote:That was for a scrimmage when you are looking at everyone. Please stop. The dual roster kids also play a mixed age group. We know someone on the team. They are happy they practice with the ECNL. I don’t know who is creating drama but it is not accurate. Clubs nationally can roster 30 and play 18 at official games. This has been the case for years. If someone has an issue they should find another team. McLean has a great
program and is now even stronger.

Opportunity to train with top players and maybe your border player improves and takes someone’s spot. Also they are listed on the roster so can use that for their own marketing at college showcases. This is much better than not being part of an ECNl program. Makes perfect sense.
Thank you. This does make sense. Is your explanation true for all ECNL teams with large rosters? Do all ECNL teams have the situation where those that don't suit up for the ECNL game gets to play in some other game? I'm thinking what if your kid was on a team with 22 kids and there wasn't a 2nd game? The dress 18 and 4 are ineligible each week. What are your thoughts on this type of situation?
