Before you tie it all to politics you do realize that blacks and Hispanics are less likely to be vaccinated than whites? They likely account for a share of the unvaccinated in this area. I know that is hard for some to wrap their heads around because it doesn’t fit with a simple minded political narrative. It’s a huge issue being overlooked by the left sadly. Another sign my party has become elite and out of touch.
Factually incorrect statement, at least in Montgomery County, where the vaccination rate for Latino residents is higher than the vaccination rate for white residents.
Prince George's County is predominantly black/AA and 70% of adults are vaccinated.
Where do you get that number? According to the State website, 54.3% of PG County population is fully vaccinated. That's still a hefty unvaccinated population. In Howard Co, 72.7% of the population is fully vaccinated.
WTOP. Four weeks ago. It should be higher now. https://wtop.com/prince-georges-county/2021/07/prince-georges-hits-70-vaccination-rate-for-adults/
Wow. This WTOP story is really wrong. They should print a retraction or correction. As of this week the numbers are 62% first dose and 54.5% fully vaccinated
Are you comparing percentage of adults 18 and up vaccinated to percentage of population vaccinated? Because those numbers are going to be different.
It wasn't wrong, but it might have been a bit misleading. The percentage given was for adults 18 and up. The percentage of the population, including 12-17 who are eligible to be vaccinated is much lower. Enough of the population in PG County remains unvaccinated that they have the highest total number of new cases most days (which makes sense given the size of the county) and also have one of the higher average daily case rates per 100,000 (15.8). The only counties with higher daily case rates are Wicomico, Dorchester, Charles, and Worcester.
