Oh please. That’s not shaming. People are choosing to be offended because it’s easier to look externally when we’re uncomfortable. I have no preference if your kids are gone or in person. But when the school explains they need numbers it’s fit a reason. While there will be absolutely be outliers that can’t answer, or have a significant need to amend their choice; most could have done so. Trying to change your answer last moment is gunking up the process. Other areas faced the same choice, earlier.
No, it's shaming. It's also bullying. And you seem to care very much if people's kids "are gone or in person" as you assume the worst about their parents' motives and actions. Please take your own advice and look internally and do some soul searching about why you feel the need to attack other parents. Hutchings said on 12/3: "WE WANT TO WORK WITH OUR FAMILIES, WE KNOW THERE ARE SITUATIONS THAT CAN HAPPEN BETWEEN NOW AND A MONTH FROM NOW. WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH OUR INDIVIDUAL FAMILIES." I don't think that when the time comes, two months after that statement, that people are "choosing to be offended" when ACPS central office then says people can't even discuss a change because ... equity. Others faced the same choice and earlier but from the APS parent who posted on this thread and what FCPS said, there weren't statements from their superintendents that made it sound like the there would be understanding and some flexibility when the time came. It's good to know that some principals are making good on Hutchings' and ACPS' words since central office refuses to even discuss it. So for those looking for solutions (and not bullying/shaming) start with your principal and go from there.
