I have no preference if your kids are gone or in person. But when the school explains they need numbers it’s fit a reason. While there will be absolutely be outliers that can’t answer, or have a significant need to amend their choice; most could have done so. Trying to change your answer last moment is gunking up the process. Other areas faced the same choice, earlier.

"Please take a moment to share with us your choice as they stand today regarding your student(s) intention to return to our classrooms beginning in January 2021. We know things may change as the progression of COVID-19 changes and we understand that what you indicate today may differ when the time comes to reopen. "
Parents are looking for support and possible solutions for their set of circumstances whatever that may be and that are completely unknown to anyone. Please stop shaming them for your assumptions about them and their circumstances. If you are happy with the information you gave to ACPS nearly three months ago, good for you.
Please ask yourself why you feel the need to be anything other than supportive to other parents who are simply asking questions that ACPS central office refuses to answer. Why try to shame other parents for simply asking questions and being frustrated?

I can understand the reasons for not allowing it. Provided those who chose hybrid actually send their kids in, and aren't just "holding a spot"..

Are you kidding with this question? Of course the school system can and does bar people, children and adults, from school buildings. No one has the "right" to enter a school building without authorization or permission. A school building must be physically safe for all of its occupants and random people cannot be allowed to walk in willy nilly. Get off your entitlement horse.
It’s Alexandria, they can’t. It’s impossible to be wrong here. Didn’t you know?

Ever try to get into a VIP area without being on the list? Sorry. You didn’t make the right choice when given the opportunity.
Wrong!
Correct. You made the wrong choice. Now you think you can complain your kid into hybrid.
Incorrect. DP. We (I) actually never filled in the form. Overwhelmed with FT job, husband deployed in a combat zone and three kids under 10, it fell to the wayside. Ten minute talk with the principal fixed that and we are now hybrid.
And I'll add this- there's something really gross about you. It seems you're taking delight in children being denied help after they've been at home for a year. Families have really struggled tremendously and you're being glib. You should be ashamed of yourself. I encourage everyone to flag this person's posts.
You actually talked to the principal to work it out though. You followed up because you missed the paperwork. These people are saying they’re just going to turn up and demand their kids go in, because they wanted to wait and see when everyone else had to make the decision. A very difficult decision under pressure. I am being glib because so many people on here don’t want to take responsibility for their own choices. You did. My comment is not about you.
Way to backpedal. Should everyone now post their backstory to get your approval, too?
I guess I am the person you want to direct your anger out. But it’s not about me. And that’s fine. make up your stories and get your ire out. I’m overwhelmed and exhausted at home too.
"You can't complain your kid into hybrid"--that you? You were glib until a military spouse told her story and was rightly offended. People should not have to lay bare their struggles to be understood in this circumstance. You don't know the first thing about why someone chose virtual and now wants hybrid. There could be any number of reasons.
+1
A colleague of mine was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. She's 46 and this came out of the blue. She'll almost surely survive (caught early, thank god) but she wants to keep it from the kids. It's been a shit year and they don't need to worry about their mom dying. She wants to schedule treatment while theyre in class.
But PP wants to say no dice because she's not "VIP"? Who the hell does she think she is?
Barf. If this is an ACPS employee they are doing irreparable harm right now.
