I cannot believe how suddenly important pools are.
I guess you weren't around for the discussions to open schools one week prior to Labor Day! That's when I realized what a big deal private pool clubs are to people in Fairfax County. The financial solvency of these private pool clubs is WAY more important than the education of the 40% of kids who get free lunch and have no membership in private pool clubs or the other 30% who don't belong to a private pool club. Priorities on display.
Pp here. Here’s what’s so funny to me. I’m a teacher who said I’d teach hybrid so even when my pool opened I didn’t take my kids. I didn’t trust it and knew I needed to be healthy because I was “going in to school” as far as I knew. I prioritized school over the pool. Duh. Now, I support year round schedule because I think the work ahead of us to assess any gaps and address them is daunting. This really would help prevent further summer slide and help kids retain info better. But parents who SWEAR we are lazy and don’t care about kids and don’t want to do our jobs and don’t think education is important are fighting instead for those damn pools lololol. All this time they’ve been attacking teachers like we didn’t care about education or school but when it comes down to it they actually don’t want to change or improve anything if it interrupts the POOL!
