So, the tcw is 9 carats? LMAO. God, sounds hideous and stupid. Anyway, agree. A quality 1 ct is better than a low quality larger stone. Also, less is more. Sometimes too much is exactly just that.

To answer OPs question. 2ct isn't necessarily big. It depends on the shape, size of the hand, and also the cut and clarity. All of these things can impact how small or large the stone "shows up".

Round solitaires will always look bigger compared to other shapes. A round 2ct is pretty sizable imo. Not too big but you're not going to miss it. A 3ct round is getting to "overkill"/ looks "silly" territory. A 1ct to 1.5ct round diamond is perfect for everyday wear. [b]With a great cut and clear stone and someone with small hands you could probably do .8ct even[/b]. It all depends.

Outside of appearance, diamonds are dumb and I say this as  an owner of quite of a few. It is not an "investment". You get it because it's pretty. Don't spend more than makes sense as you qould for anything else that is decorative and not particularly functional. [/quote]

Plus,  a well-cut.8-.9 is not going to look much different visually than 1. And you save money this way, because people are hung up on the 1.0 distinction. If you want 2 carats, go for 1.75 and up and no one will know the difference.[/quote]
