i have never been picked up for a date while dating in DC.  We meet a the location via our own cars or Uber. Maybe this happens in the exburbs?[/quote]

I dated in DC for years and always picked up my dates in my car.  Drove a clunker old Buick for a while too.  Was not a “screen” at first but realized it helped identify some thinking in some women.  I later heard through the grapevine that when one of my “few date exes” (who frowned at my old brown car) realized where my wife and I now live,  she was shocked.  We always went to nice places and she was aware I had a decent apartment  but the car, and perhaps me, did not seem to cut it for her.  My friend who informed her of where I now live also let her know that he suspected I have been a multi-millionaire for X number of years (a slight exaggeration on the time frame) which lead her to do the math and realize I was far ahead financially of what she assumed when we went on those few dates.
