I knew this was going to be a hot stinking mess. Of course LT will course correct but as someone who has experienced that toxic dysfunction in that building first hand I can say that what looks good on the outside isn't always what you get once you take a bite. Trust me when I tell you that whomever the internal candidate is has been laying in wait for years. LT gets who they want in leadership positions. If that person is not a puppet they oust them and bring in someone who will go with the program. The school has very involved families and highly engaged children but there are a handful of longtime staff that are really running the school behind the scenes. It will be interesting to see who emerges and to revisit this thread in a couple of years.
The internal candidate isn’t a secret. She’s been mentioned repeatedly by name. It’s Ms. Johnson, who is currently the head of ECE.
She was one of the people I thought it might be so yeah. What I said stands. As I said, there are a handful of staff who have been running the school behind the scene for years. Mrs. Johnson has a good head on her shoulders and I wish her well as she moves into this new role.
As a newish parent at the school, I hope she gets it. I don’t know her, but she has been the competent adult on every zoom about the unfolding leadership mess and DL. Much more so than the interim principal or outgoing AP. I think the interim principal seems OK. She has been dealt an incredibly difficult hand and the staff really does seem to be pulling together behind her, so I figure she can’t be as over her head as she seems in zoom calls.
