You absolutely do not owe them an apology. There is nothing wrong with asking that you be allowed to incorporate their kids into your schedule if you are offering to watch them for free during the work day.  You also can't control what your parents offer them. After a couple of months, your parents may also ask for a change of schedule or let them know it isn't working for them either. Frankly your BIL sounds pretty ignorant.[/quote]
