The narrow definition that only the powerful group can be -ist towards the other is leaving out all of the areas where power dynamics are different. That definition also leaves out real experiences that people encounter - which leads to cynicism/disbelief. [/quote] NP here & I agree. Just because people say over and over that only white people can be racist (or only rich can be classist) doesn’t make it true. We don’t need the definition explained to us. We just disagree with you. By definition these things are judging someone based on race or class. It’s as simple as that. You can still discuss power imbalance without pretending basic words mean something else & scolding everyone that they aren’t using those words correctly. [/quote]
