But why should the women care if the husband makes a similar amount as she does? She has an income/salary/income potential requirement, it's just not as high as someone trying to marry rich.

How is expecting someone to be able to support him/he self an income requirement?  I would call that adulting.  But back to the original question.  It’s not if a woman would marry a much older guy for his money - it’s if the older guy is either deluding himself or doesn’t mind being married for his money.
