EXACTLY.  I don't care what race they choose for the Little Mermaid (or any other role, for that matter), but heads would be exploding if the situation was reversed.  Outrage and protests!!  I'm so sick of the hypocrisy.

Obviously you do care or you wouldn't be trying to insuate hypocrisy where there is none. As another poster has already pointed out, white people are already overrepsented in film, even in roles where the character is a POC. If you recast the 1 and only black Disney princess as a white girl, you're damn right there would be outrage. Casting one of the many white princesses, whose race is inconsequential to the character because she's a fictional half-fish person, is not remotely the same and you know it. [/quote]
