Finally, I don’t like the hype. The case for “electrics” as the future of transport depend on the improvement of technology that is not a given, the market is moving to heavier, crossovers and SUVs which kills electrics, and—Tesla at least—is delivering these vehicles like IT companies deliver software:  send out a substantially less than final product and just fix issues later with a software patch. By contrast, while far from perfect, combustion vehicles are at least delivered in substantially final form.

I’ll go so far as to say that if electrics could match combustion performance pound for pound, I’d be happy to buy one up to and including a 10% cost of ownership premium. [/quote]
