We all know CA and NY will vote R. There populations can grow to epic proportions and Dems will get those votes, but the entire electoral map must be conquered. The popular vote doesn’t win the presidency. Until that changes it’s a non-issue, as much as it means to some people here. Let’s deal with reality, not wishes and whatabout. It’s maddening to argue a point that has no real world ramifications in this context.
The ones who are not dealing with reality are the ones who don’t understand how the odds are against someone to keep losing the popular vote while somehow winning the EC. It is not gonna happen. As it is VA,CO,NV,NM has already become blue. NC,GA,FL and AZ are on the way to becoming blue. WI,MI and PA have already swung hard against the GOP. The GOP has lost the bite share in every single election since 2016. The future isn’t so good unless the party gets on board with millennial (minority majority generation) issues such as universal healthcare, Climate change etc.
We have been saying this since 2010 at least. Come on! Demographics doesn’t matter unless people VOTE!
Even with low rate of Hispanic and millennial voting the GOP can’t win the popular vote. They will eventually vote. Every election the white percent of electorate comes down 2-3%. How are they gonna compensate the loss if they are driving ALL minorities and women into the hands of democrats?
For one thing, the Democrats always manage to grab defeat from the jaws of victory. They’ve taken a losing position on immigration after being relatively moderate until their donors in Silicon Valley told them to support immigration policies which normal people HATE. Do you think that someone who becomes a citizen after going through a completely onerous immigration process is going to support making life easier for illegal immigrants? NO. Every time they are in power they are toothless in supporting organized labor or holding Silicon Valley accountable. They just let everyone down.
The democrats are on the right side of healthcare(millenials and minorities want universal healthcare), right side of hourly wage increase, right side of equal pay, right side of climate change, right side on abortion, right side on LGBTQ rights, right side on taxing the rich and more spending on education, right side on Dreamers, right side on worker re-training etc. There is not a single issue the GOP can get the millenials or the minorities or even the working class whites. All they have is demagoguery and inciting white identity politics and tax cuts for the rich. Everyone knows this and that’s why the GOP can no longer win popular cites. The party is driving itself into the ground with Trump. How do you think they will get the popular vote? Pleas explain with rationale.
