The only new character from this movie who left me wanting more was the theif. Everyone else had no emotional connection. I wish Finn was used better in this film. I really like his character but his storyline seemed so disjointed from the rest of the characters. I also felt like Poe was a cameo type role. There were too many irrelevant new characters focused on.
+1 to this. That said, I liked the movie overall. But Finn and Poe were among my favorites in TFA and I found them so uninteresting in TLJ. The casino scenes were dumb and unnecessary and it didn't make sense that they wouldn't be told how they were all going to be saved, thus leading to the pointless casino world storyline. I also didn't see how Poe's disobedience could have led to a bunch of dead people and he gets a slap on the wrist.
Yes, it did. Poe learns this lesson when he tells Rose and Finn about the escape pods over BB-8, the theif overhears, and is able to pass that info to the First Order. He didn't need to tell them, but was thinking mroe as a co=conspirator/equal than as a leader. That's the point: you have to trust your leaders, because some information is too important to let too many people in on.
