I finally saw the movie. Overall I liked it, but had some eyerolling moments. I don't think I'll see it again, but I rarely repeat-view movies so that's not a criticism.

Things I disliked:
* I'm getting tired of suspending disbelief with regards to autonomous robots in the Star Wars world. They can make sentient robots, but they can't program a spaceship to turn around on its own? Or to go drop bombs on its own? Wtf?
* Speaking of bombs, gravity bombs in space? Huh?
* Leia frozen in space and coming back. I nearly laughed in the theater.
* Grand Leader Snope is super uber powerful and then just ...dies? Makes no sense. Though I liked the fact he did die as I felt he was a sort of silly, one-dimensional bad guy. I am only quibbling with how he didn't see it coming. I guess that was kind of the point, but still.
* The long casino-destroying scene was just silly.
* The perfect timing on the execution scene with Rose and Finn was ridiculous, and the fact that basically every other stormtrooper disappeared in those seconds.

Things I either liked or at least think are interesting:

* I thought it was a good decision to make Poe's flyboy character responsible for the deaths of most of the rest of the resistance because he made a stupid, hotheaded decision. Leia should have shot him, by rights, rather than stunned him. He mutinied and should have been punished more severely for it. Having him watch as the remaining resistance was picked off by the empire thanks to his dumbass decision made sense. It's about time that Star Wars showed a hotshot, mutinous decision going horribly wrong rather than miraculously right.
* The part of Luke's personality that they carried over from the earlier series was the whiny, entitled part. It's an interesting choice. I guess at some level it feels a bit unfair to the original character, but on the other hand, Luke throwing a temper tantrum and sulking is totally in character.
* It was cool to see the Imperial Guard actually do something, and I loved the Kylo/Rey lightsaber battle together.
* I found the goodbye scene between Holdo and Leia touching. I can't think of any other blockbuster movies that had moments like that between two older women characters. Maybe there are some, but that moment was so unusual that it really stood out to me.
* Awesome, funny Yoda is back rather than the boring superhero Yoda of Episodes 1-3.
* The fact this movie is upsetting the delicate snowflakes in the alt-right. That is fantastic and makes me like the movie more.

When I think about it this way, fans blamed Lucas for every single little detail, but now they can overlook gravity in space? Patricide, bcs... you didn't come to my light saber performance? Why even have a Jedi order if Rey can be more powerful than Darth Vader bcs Luke threw a light saber behind him and she beat air? And Anakin had his arm chopped off around the same age by Dooku, Obi Van couldn't beat him, and Yoda saved them, but now burns Jedi books while cackling?? Fans of Star Wars, but liking this atrocity, how can you be such hypocrites and tear apart Lucas while forgiving this mindless, makes no sense in any single way rubbish? Nobody forgave Justice league and Batman vs Superman, and at least we had good looking actors in those.

Oh, and Mark Hamill, clearly said in an interview that Rey wants a bad boy, not just as a friend. And why, she knew him all of two seconds?

Agreed. Clearly the reference of the Republic to the Nazis has been there since the very first movie in 1977 - the uniforms alone as well as the terms used within the republic hierarchy and the storm troopers.

Saw it last night. Loved it. Still remember waiting in line in 1977 to see the first one when I was 9 years old.

Yes, it did. Poe learns this lesson when he tells Rose and Finn about the escape pods over BB-8, the theif overhears, and is able to pass that info to the First Order. He didn't need to tell them, but was thinking mroe as a co=conspirator/equal than as a leader. That's the point: you have to trust your leaders, because some information is too important to let too many people in on.

Of the whole series, I really only liked the original and Empire Strikes Back. Seeing the others (I have seen them all) feels more like an obligation at this point.

If Rey is meant to be the emotional heart of these three, they have to do a better job of making her likeable. Like Rogue One and Felicity Jones, its like they think that being British and waif-like is enough to create emotional investment in the character. Why should I care about Rey? I cared about Luke, Han Solo and Leia, but that's about it at this point.

The diversity, womyn power and Chinese actresses -- too forced. Leia flying through space is the least of my worries.

That said, it was entertaining for the battles scenes.
