I think we can all agree that the Wolves victory over WC post did not age well. It’s the only game they have won so far, and that WC team might be the only team in the entire U 19 to go 0-4.
WW u19 stacked with committed players and still can’t win their pool (lower tier) and have not won any major regional or national level tournament in the past few years. Committed players to Columbia, Syracuse, Farfield, BU, Davidson, Lafayette, Amherst, Longwood. Also, the team has so many players, the lower tiered players were combined with another club to play at this tournament not coached by WW or under WW team name. So clearly it was WW top team. You would think if the goal like WC eagles is for players who are uncommitted to showcase, WW would have left their committed players at home so the other players could play under the WW name along with a team they practice with and be coached by WW coaches versus be out in a random team or stand on the sidelines “cheering” or as the coach would say “learning by watching the better players” play.
There is a lot of truth in this. One missing fact, WW has one more D1 commit not mentioned and quite a few for D2 & D3 schools. All commits are incredible achievements. The percentage of WW committed players to the number of WW players is impressive and would be comparable to any elite club. Also, we shouldn’t take anything away from these hard working young athletes and their major life accomplishments. As parents, we know how much time and effort they have put in to achieving their goals so I will keep my responses to the clubs. For SS, the extra WW players who were combined with the other team, were mostly from U16 and a few younger U19 players, but the pp is right, mostly 25’s on the U19 roster. The FH community is small and once you have been in it you recognize that all the clubs have grievances from fairness, favoritism, less attention to their lower teams, coaching, etc. What I have heard, consistently, through many FH families is that the WW coach truly loves the girls, wants the best for them, and helps with recruiting. She also wants them to be have fun and love the game. The new coaches who teach the U14 and younger are having great success and I have heard great things, so this is a positive for WW’s future. That being said, the coach goes to the extreme to not have perceived favorites, to the point where there is no appearance of loyalty to the players who have stayed dedicated to her club. This is where some of the negativity may have come from with the other posts and previous WW players. As seen at SS, the coach would rather send her loyal players to another team, not under the WW name, and have her new WW players on the team under the WW name. This was the 2nd time WW has done this. Paying a lot of money to be part of the WW club to be sent to play for another club during recruitment is not great, especially when being seen is the most important, if you’re not committed. Overall, WW is a solid team and for the DMV, NL & WW are the top two choices, but if you’re not an elite player already, there a low chance to be on the top team, no matter what club is chosen.
