Several Texas officials are calling on the administration to extend the support for the testing sites, with the Houston Health Department’s public health authority writing that the lack of support could cause “catastrophic cascading consequences.” Officials are requesting the funding for these testing locations be extended until August 30. Four of the seven Texas sites in jeopardy are located in Houston and Harris County, which public experts say could become the area worst hit by COVID-19 in the country.

There is nothing stopping states from using their own budgets to continue testing.
do you hear yourself? You are a monster.
Why? If you are Montana or Colorade, why should your allocation of federal funds be spent on chasing hot spots around the nation? The idea this is a national continental US problem has been revealed to be false. It started with a highly concentrated area in the NE and has moved south and west over time. Those states should now be directing their own efforts at mitigation and response.
The fact that it started in one part of the country and then migrated to other areas shows that it's a national problem. Montana should want federal funds spent on coronavirus testing because it might help control the spike happening next door in Idaho from spreading.
