It really isn’t rocket science. You just need leadership and competence Fauci today” When you have those kinds of increases you must implement on the ground. You need the manpower, the systems, the tests to ID, to contact trace and blunt the surge.” The Dean of Harvard School of Public Health (the best public health department in the world) today was asked what he would do if he was in charge and he said. He would coordinate with state governments to make sure in every state 1). Mandatory mask wearing anytime you are outside your house 2) uniform and clear guidelines about Social Distancing. So for example probably no night clubs etc 3) ramped up testing (5 million a day now and continue to ramp up). He said this was our best shot at detecting outbreaks and understanding how the virus spreads 4) loads of trained contact tracers 5) huge stockpile of PPE 6). All above efforts coordinated by the federal government which would gather and share information and ensure a smooth supply chain of tests, PPE and therapies None of the above is difficult- heck it is all pretty low tech BUT it is very hard work which means you need a massive whole of government response. He said that Germany had done this very successfully and so people are able to get back to work. He said we would never get this under control if we don’t have a uniform and coordinated national approach. He also said that we got discouraged and impatient and that we need leadership to encourage people to stay the course.
This You don't need a Harvard dean to say this. You can find many posts similar to this. What I don't understand is why the federal government refuses to implement it. Though it's tedious work, the alternative is trillions of dollars and thousands of lives.
