I believe that parents are not following though with disciplining their kids and the world is starting to get filled with bratty, un-mannored, self entitled assholes.
Not a minority view.
Uh -- yes it is. Have you met all the parents out there of special snowflakes who say -- oh yes the millennials are terrible, our kids need more discipline and structure so they don't grow up like that, BUT MY Aidan is just a cut above the rest; he doesn't need that because he is SOOO gifted, you wouldn't understand. He ONLY acts out in school bc he isn't challenged, do you know how tough that is for him??? And even for parents who aren't so over the top about it, almost every single one of my peers believes in their heart of hearts that their kid is just a cut above the rest, and the rules shouldn't apply to their kids/family like they do to everyone else; once you're around them long enough, it slips out. Seems like no one views their kid as "average" anymore. I'm an advocate for old school 60s-80s parenting, where most parents thought their kids were just fine but were average and just like the rest -- which means if they did something bad, they were punished and parents sure as hell weren't running to school or calling the teacher every time the teacher had the audacity to discipline or correct their child.
