Not suggesting in any way that it's the D's problem to solve, but that the Ds could capitalize on the chaos to secure committee seats, debt ceiling votes, whatever else.  I think Pelosi is right and had the Rs been the leaders during 1/6, we would not be a (version of a) democracy today.  We all have to live here for the next 2 years, and I don't want to just see who the adults are - I want a functioning government that can at the very least ensure our country continues to exist.[/quote]

But the Speaker controls what the House votes on.  A sane Speaker could just tell the crazies to stuff it and put a debt ceiling vote on the floor, get all 212 Democratic votes and a handful of Republican votes.  But one who is captive to the crazies will just never let that vote happen.[/quote]
