They surveyed parents and found that lower income parents were less likely to want face to face instruction for the fall. It is actually YOU who is disrespecting people who are lower SES by telling them what they want and need. You're entitled to act like a white savior, but you can't expect that anyone will respect you for it. Things I've heard parents on here saying: "I just want to be able to telework productively", "MY child will be showing up at school in the fall without a mask to receive their free and appropriate public education", "Fire all the teachers and replace them with all the millions of smart unemployed people who would be happy to take their jobs", "Teachers need to start doing their part and sacrificing during the pandemic", "I should be paid to help my child with their school work", "We should get our taxes back because DL is a failure", "Teachers are whiners" A lot of the parents in my class don't work in any capacity. I don't know their life story-whatever they do to make ends meet isn't my concern. But don't try to tell me that you speak for the working class.
You know, I've read probably every post on this topic on this forum (because I'm a masochist that way), and I don't think there has been even one instance of anybody saying that. I mean, there are certainly the "if you wear a mask, you will suffocate on your own carbon dioxide" cranks, but they don't support school without masks; they support keeping schools closed. There are also the "Kids can't/won't wear masks because [reasons]" people, but they support keeping schools closed too.
Literally that is an exact quote-I’m not going to look for it, but I’m sure you could use the search function if you were so inclined.
I did a search. It didn't produce any results, other than the PP quoted above in this post.
