I think if producers had been present, they would have intervened, especially with the 4th wall being broken.  They called 911 when Jenelle and Nathan were violently fighting and Nathan locked them out of the house. The recording was played during the episode, but framed as the neighbors calling. It seems that they will intervene in a truly dangerous/life-threatening situation.  All of the car scenes are filmed with mounted cameras.[/quote]
